STILL the worst blogger!!

Okay, okay!! I know I said I was going to be a better blogger...well...you see, we've been a little busy.  Busy with going back to work, Aaron starting his last semester of school (yippee), two kids, yaddy yadda, and just life in general.  Time is really flying...I thought it went by fast with Ava, it is really flying by with 2 now.

First of all, I'd like to wish our little sweetie, Avery, a very happy 4 month birthday.  Yes, you read that correctly, she is FOUR months old.  She is the sweetest little baby I know.  I'm sure most parents say that, but we are so blessed with her.  She is talking, more like screaming, all the time.  If you know anything about our family, we are a bunch of talkers so bless her little heart, she has to scream to be heard!! Ha!  Avery is a little chunky monkey! At her 4 month checkup (on 8.22.12), she was 14 lbs, 13 oz (75%) and was 24.5 in tall (50%).  Since she spits up so much, Dr. P decided to start her on solids early.  She started squash that same day and really enjoys it.  Momma gave her carrots last night, for the first time, and she devoured almost a whole #1 jar of them.  She is normally eating 1/4 of a #1 jar of squash so I'm thinking she really liked the sweetness of them.  Uh oh, another sweet tooth in the family, good thing Pop already agreed to pay for any and all cavities for the girls; well, maybe it was just for Ava, maybe we can Grandfather (no pun intended) her in!!

Always has those fingers in her mouth.

It has been an eventful last couple of days.  Two days after Avery's 4 month well check, she aspirated on her spit up.  This actually wasn't the first time this happened.  Momma didn't know what was happening the first few times she did it.  This time, Daddy just happened to hear her struggling on the monitor and rushed to her side.  Dr. P decided it was finally time to start her on reflux meds.  Previously, he didn't want to put her on any meds, since she was so happy and gaining a ton of weight.  Once she started her meds, she barely spits up and even gained a whole pound in one week.  Look out monster baby!!  Looks like someone may be off the charts for her weight soon, just like her big sister!

Avery's 4 month favs:
  • sleeping with Mommy & Daddy
  • her big sister
  • sitting up with a Boppy
  • carrots
  • her Binky
  • screaming/talking
  • LiLi's creepy voice
  • bath time
  • her swing
  • loves it when we sing to her
  • going to Target
  • her Moby wrap
  • Jumperoo & Exersaucer
In the words of Ava, Avery's "no like its"
  • her big girl crib
  • oatmeal
  • tummy aches
  • having dirty diapers
Speaking of big sister.  Ava is doing great!  She loves her new big girl class at school.  She wakes up every morning and asks if it is a school day.  She gets bummed when it's not.  Then usually asks to go to Pop's house, for a sucker, of course!!  Ava is constantly singing, her current favorites are the ABC's, a Bunch of Bones (from Bubble Guppies), or God is so Good.  She has the deepest voice and is not afraid to sing aloud, and I me LOUD, in public!!

Ava got her first real haircut from Grandma Betty.  Ava sat so still, thanks to the blue Pop Ice & Aunt Li!

All pretty

This was just a tiny snippet of our summer.  It was such a busy and hot one.  So thankful for our family!!  We are ready for some cooler temps, pumpkins, and outside play where we aren't sweating to death!

WORST BLOGGER E.V.E.R!!

Wow!! What a difference a year makes! I have not blogged in over a year! Time has really gotten away from me!

So, what has kept us so busy you might ask...  For starters, Aaron was deployed to San Antonio, Texas for 6 months. He worked for the Wounded Warrier Project and loved how he was able to serve our great Country! Back at home, I was pregnant and was keeping busy with our almost two year old!

Fast forward to today, we now have a talkative, smart, and active 2 year old AND our sweet Avery, who is now 2 months old! Hard to believe I am a mom to a 2 year old and 2 month old! I'm already ready to add the next little Vetter; Aaron, on the other hand, is content with "what we have"!! A girl can dream, can't she?!

Being the proud Mommy that I am, I just have to include some pictures of our beautiful girls!!!

I promise to do my best to keep you all up to date on the girls!!

One HOT summer!

Momma's little bookworm, couldn't find her and she was just reading in a quiet spot!
It has been so HOT this summer that we have had to spend lots of time playing inside. We are getting a little bored and running out of ideas of things to do. We have spent a lot of time, climbing the stairs, reading books, and just having family time. I must admit, it is pretty nice!

Ava had her 15 month checkup with Dr. Raley this month. She was a nightmare, she saw the nurse and freaked out. This is not her normal behavior but Dr. R assured us that it is completely normal at this age.  I still couldn't believe that my sweet Ava would act like this.  A few days after her appointment, Ava was still a bear and I noticed that she had developed some blisters on her feet and in her mouth. I remember from my days at ECC that she probably had Hand, Food, & Mouth disease...not actually a disease, just a virus. It was Friday evening when I noticed the blisters, of course, so we took her to the Pediatric Urgent Care, and they confirmed my suspicion. Turns out, earlier that day she was sharing Cheetos with her Big Pop and gave him the virus too! It only lasted 3-5 days once we noticed the blisters.  One morning, she woke up her normal, happy self! Thank goodness!!

Ava is still talking like crazy, she is repeating everything we say. Here are her new words/phrases from this last month:

After church a few weeks ago! A little out of focus but she was smiling at the camera...if I remember correctly, Dada was holding his keys by the lens.

We have had a VERY busy and fun summer so far. Mommy is really enjoying spending time with her little family. Ava is growing and changing so much. She is talking, using some baby signs (please, stop and "all done"), will say what sound a dog and duck makes on command, she is running everywhere, and is as busy AND active as ever!

Over the 4th of July weekend, we went to Kansas City, well, Olathe, KS to see Aaron's sister and family.  We stayed with Ava's cousins, Uncle E, and Aunt RoRo!  We had such a great visit. Ava LOVES her cousins, and Chloe too. Ava got to visit cousin Amber's goat, Heidi, we went to Deanna Rose (a great petting zoo), she got bit by both a cat and a goat all in the same day, and saw a great fireworks show. We wished we didn't live to far away from them.  Here are a few pics from our trip:

Our busy lil' girl!!

This month has flown by, seems like we just celebrated her 1st birthday.  We definitely have a blabbering toddler on our hands.  I look at Ava now compared to a few months ago and it is incredible how much she has changed. She is constantly, and I mean constantly, talking and on the move.  I am sitting at the computer and watching her on her baby monitor and she is rolling circles in her crib and talking non-stop.  Some of Ava's new words are:
  • eyes (04.19.11)
  • dog and puzzle (04.21.11)
  • Easter night, she said Jesus, twice
  • pretty  (04.29.11)
  • Is it? (04.29.11)
  • Daddy and Ava (said in sentence form) (04.29.11)
  • look (said while pointing at everything)
  • Lola (05.03.11)

Ava is taking swim lessons on Monday nights at Miller Swim School, in Tulsa. She takes it with her good bud, Caleb, from church. She has so much fun singing the songs and "rowing", "kicking", and doing the "pancake." Often times, Ava is too busy to pay attention to her teacher, Ms. Glenda (who is awesome, by the way). She will point at other children in the pool, her Aunt LiLi who comes every week to watch her swim, or just random things that catch her attention. She is the cheerleader in the group and likes to clap when her classmates do a great job.  She has learned to go underwater, climb out of the pool, doggie-paddle, float on her back; of course, these are all done with the assistance of her Momma, who has just as much fun as she does in the class!!

Reading with one of her favorite people in the world, her Big Pop!

After a scrumptous 1 1/4 PB &J (yep, you read that correctly...she was a hungry girl!)

Ava has had such a busy month learning new things. She can jump, wave, say "Go Pokes" with her hands, clap, go find something, all when asked. She is such a smart girl!! We are so thankful for such a busy, heathly, and happy toddler!
